Oasys Public Chain Launches Technical Roadmap to Address Three Major Challenges in Blockchain Gaming Development

Recently, the gaming public chain Oasys celebrated its second anniversary and released its latest technical roadmap. This roadmap focuses on addressing the three major technical challenges currently faced by the development of blockchain games: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.

Oasys, as a public blockchain focused on bringing traditional games into the Web3 space, has established partnerships with several well-known game companies and has nearly 60 games in its ecosystem. It adopts a highly scalable architecture design that combines Layer 1 (Hub Layer) and Layer 2 (Verse Layer), aiming to provide high network stability, high scalability, and high data availability.

Technical Challenges of Blockchain Game Development and Oasys's Solutions

Despite the continuous improvement of underlying blockchain technology, there are still some technical shortcomings in practice. Oasys has proposed corresponding solutions to these challenges:

1. The Continuity of Game Assets

In traditional Web2 games, the game assets that players acquire often disappear when the game is shut down. Although blockchain technology provides a foundation for solving the issue of digital sovereignty, the rise of modular architecture has also brought new challenges.

Oasys's solution provides permanent protection for user assets by mirroring game assets from Layer 2 to Layer 1. Even if Layer 2 data is lost, user assets remain secure.

2. Interoperability of Layer 2

Oasys's Layer 2 is called Verse Layer, and each Layer 2 network is an independent "small universe". However, the interoperability between different Layer 2s is limited, affecting the cross-chain transfer of data and assets.

To address this issue, Oasys plans to introduce a cross-chain bridge, adopting a universal data format and standardizing APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different Layer 2s. This will allow users to easily and securely move data and assets between games on Oasys.

3. Ecosystem Scalability

Building a sustainable ecosystem is a major challenge faced by public chains. Oasys collaborates closely with ecosystem partners to provide them with the necessary tools and resources, supporting ecosystem development and reducing technical barriers.

The Oasys Verse Development Kit (Oasys VDK) allows enterprises to quickly access high-quality Layer 2, enabling game developers to launch projects faster and focus on content development, thereby achieving scalability for the ecosystem.

Technical Roadmap: Short-term and Medium-term Planning

Oasys's technology roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years):

short-term planning

  1. Standardization of Game Asset Specifications
  2. Create practical use cases
  3. Provide Oasys Verse Development Kit (Oasys VDK)

Mid-term Plan

  1. Solve protocol layer issues
  2. Achieve interoperability between Layer 2s
  3. Provide developer tools that align with the Oasys vision

In terms of short-term planning, Oasys has achieved multiple results. For example, it launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse and collaborated with the Korean gaming group Com2uS to bring its popular games onto the blockchain. Additionally, a blockchain game based on the Japanese football manga "Captain Tsubasa" has also officially launched on Oasys.

In terms of ecosystem expansion, Oasys has partnered with Japan's SBI Group to increase its influence in the cryptocurrency gaming and NFT market in Japan. Earlier this year, Oasys also collaborated with Kakao's Web3 gaming division Metabora SG to support its expansion into the Japanese market.

With the gradual implementation of the technology roadmap, Oasys is moving towards the goal of establishing a global standard for blockchain games, creating value for players and developers while bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
